Fire Station Industrial Area Phase 1 provided training to students for fire safety at Maharishi Dayanand Public School, MDV Building, Daria, Chandigarh today. In a session conducted by the Fire Department’s team, including Devendra Sivach and Jitendra Singh, detailed information on fire prevention was imparted to school students and teachers. They emphasized that in the event of a fire, both the fire safety personnel and an ambulance should be informed. If someone is burnt, they should be transported to the hospital by ambulance for immediate medical attention.
Devendra Sivach highlighted the importance of learning fire prevention techniques in advance. In the event of a building fire, it is advised not to use the elevator for evacuation. Instead, people should descend using stairs, and those residing in the building should be notified of the fire in concise terms. Installing fire extinguishers at home and office is essential, and training on how to use them is mandatory. Regularly checking the expiration date of fire extinguishers and replacing them when expired is crucial.During the hotter months, the likelihood of fire incidents increases. It is recommended to always turn off the switch of the gas cylinder kept at home. If there is suspicion of a gas leak, windows should be opened immediately. Efforts should be made to move flammable substances away from potential fire sources. Immediately informing the fire department and alerting people in the vicinity through fire alarms is essential for a quick response. In the event of someone being trapped inside during a fire, assistance from fire safety personnel should be sought to rescue the individual. If clothes catch fire, it is advised not to run. Instead, lie down on the ground and attempt to extinguish the fire. Running provides oxygen to the flames, making them more intense. Efforts should be made to reduce the intensity of the flames by wrapping oneself in a blanket.
