Under the Pradhan Mantri Vikas Kaushal Yojana (PMKVY), continuous training is being imparted to unemployed youth in Haryana in a bid to make them get jobs in the private sector. The scheme was started during the first term of the BJP government so that jobless youth could get a chance to acquire skills, become financially empowered and take forward the family.
It was found in the official figures that a sizable chunk of unemployed youth in Haryana have been trained under PMKVY. A total of 65,1525 people have been trained from the year 2015 to the year 2022 since the scheme was brought into existence. In the last few years, it has also come to light that training was taken on a large scale in the beginning under the Haryana scheme. But in the recent past, it has come to light that there has been a sizable decrease in the number of candidates undergoing training under the PMKVY. If we glance at the statistics of the last three years, it is known that the candidates are showing less interest in getting trained. Where 183565 candidates received training in session 2017-18, the number decreased to 115364 candidates taking training in session 2018-19.
However, in the session 2019–20, the figure increased, and 175386 candidates took the training. After this, a continuous dip was reported in the figures. After this, 18,191 candidates registered for training in the session 2020–21, and further, the number of registered candidates shrank to only 8963 candidates in the last session 2021–22.
