Six new fast-track courts will be established in Haryana to expedite the hearing of cases pending in various courts related to crimes against women.
The decision to set up these courts has been made to address pending cases concerning crimes such as rape, molestation, and mental harassment against women. Fast-track courts will be established in every district where more than 50 cases of the aforementioned categories are pending.
Director General of Police, Haryana Shatrujeet Kapur,giving information about this initiative, stated that the decision aims to control criminal incidents against women, ensuring swift justice for them. Two fast-track courts will be established in Faridabad, and one each in Gurugram, Panipat, Sonipat, and Nuh districts of the state.
Furthermore, regular training programs and refresher courses are being conducted for women investigation officers at HPA Madhuban.
Kapur emphasized that these programs are essential for preventing criminal incidents against women. They keep women investigating officers updated on new amendments in legal provisions, enabling them to conduct investigations effectively and in a timely manner.
To enhance the investigative process, state-of-the-art investigation kits have been provided to the Scene of Crime teams in all districts. These advanced kits ensure the collection of necessary evidence from crime scenes in a scientific manner.
In prioritizing cases related to crimes against women, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) provides lab results in the shortest possible time. Kapurr said that FSL completes all legal norms and formalities on a priority basis, ensuring that justice is delivered promptly.
As a proactive measure, a DSP level officer has been appointed as a nodal officer in every district to monitor cases related to crimes against women. Women Safety DIG Nazneen Bhasin said that women police officers have also been appointed in Mahila Police Stations to create a safe environment for women to report their problems without hesitation.
To enhance women’s safety, more than 2 lakh CCTV cameras have been installed in the state with the help of various departments. These cameras monitor criminal activities, allowing immediate police action in case of untoward incidents.
According to the Criminal Law Amendment-2018, in cases of rape of a girl below 12 years of age, there is a provision to complete the investigation within 2 months. If found guilty, the maximum penalty is death.”
