For the first time, police have arrested a farmer leader from Jammu in connection with the Republic Day violence on 26 January.

Reports said that Delhi Police got the custody of Mohinder Singh who is the chairman Jammu and Kashmir United Kisan Front as they have some evidence to prove his role in the violence. With the help of J&K police, Mohinder Singh was called to the Gandhi Nagar police station where he was shifted to Delhi for further questioning by Delhi Police.

It is in place to mention that many farmers and protesters entered into Delhi from the routes which were banned for them and many of them entered into Red Fort with tractors and indulged in violence asking for the repeal of farm laws. The family members of Mohinder Singh along with many of his supporters protested in Jammu on Tuesday and claimed that he was innocent and demanded his immediate release.

His wife, while talking to reporters at Jammu, claimed that her husband was at the Delhi border and not Red Fort when the violence broke out.
