An executive engineer associated with Telangana’s Tribal Welfare Engineering department was arrested while accepting a bribe of ₹84,000. The arrest stemmed from a complaint accusing K Jaga Jyothi of soliciting the bribe in exchange for official favors. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) swiftly conducted an operation, capturing Jaga Jyothi red-handed. A video circulating on social media shows Jaga Jyothi in tears following the apprehension.

The ACB utilized a phenolphthalein test, which showed positive results on Jaga Jyothi’s right-hand fingers. This chemical compound turns pink upon breakdown, serving as a valuable tool in identifying bribe recipients. Traces of the solution adhere to individuals’ hands when handling marked bills or documents, and the pink color becomes evident upon contact with a mild base.

The video of K. Jaga Jyothi, an executive engineer in the Tribal Welfare Engineering Department at Tribal Bhavanon, crying after being arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau squad went viral very quickly on social media.

The ACB stated that Jaga Jyothi acted improperly and dishonestly in the execution of her duties, with the intent to gain an undue advantage. Following the arrest, the recovered bribe amount of ₹84,000 is now in the possession of the authorities. Jaga Jyothi is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before a court in Hyderabad.
