The Delhi Rouse Avenue Court has approved the request of Magunta Raghav Reddy, the son of Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party’s (YSRCP) MP from Ongole, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, to become an approver in the CBI case related to Delhi’s excise policy.

Special Judge MK Nagpal granted approval for Raghav’s application under section 306 CrPC, allowing him to turn approver and receive pardon in the case.

The court recently granted anticipatory bail to Raghav, noting that he was not specifically named as an accused in the FIR.

Raghav recently became the approver in the Delhi excise policy money laundering case investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. The court had pardoned him in the same case while allowing his plea to become an approver.

Raghav, affiliated with the South Group, was implicated as a participant and beneficiary in a conspiracy where the South Group allegedly paid approximately Rs 100 crore to the AAP, according to the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

In the previous year, both the ED and CBI filed cases, accusing individuals of irregularities during the modification of the excise policy.

The allegations included extending undue favors to license holders, waiving or reducing license fees, and extending the L-1 license without proper approval.

The beneficiaries were accused of diverting “illegal” gains to implicated officials and resorting to false entries in their financial records to avoid detection.
