According to the police, two former students of Gurudas College in Kolkata were arrested for allegedly intimidating the current batch to take part in political events.
In accordance with the West Bengal Prohibition of Ragging in Educational Institutions Act 2000, a case has been opened at the Phoolbagan police station in Kolkata.
The Gurudas campus principal allegedly filed a complaint against the two former students, accusing them of ragging the current students by frequently visiting the campus and pressing them to take part in political programming.
The victim had alleged that some students, allegedly forced them to attend political events and allegedly threatened to cancel their registration if they failed to do so. The complaint was directly made to UGC, which directed the college authorities to take immediate action.
A probe is underway and further details are awaited.
