In a warm and unique Diwali celebration, former Pakistani Minister of State for Interior Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju joined INLD leader Abhay Chautala’s family in Haryana’s Chautala village, Sirsa district. Kanju attended as a chief guest in a ceremony to felicitate two new INLD MLAs, bringing a cross-border touch to the festivities.
The event was held to honor Abhay Chautala’s son Arjun Chautala and Aditya Devi Lal, both recently elected to the Haryana Assembly from the Rania and Dabwali constituencies. The celebration included the Chautala family’s patriarch, Om Prakash Chautala, former Haryana Chief Minister, who was also present to witness the occasion.
In a heartfelt social media post, Abhay Chautala expressed his gratitude for Kanju’s attendance, calling it a special addition to the festivities. He wrote, “We express our heartfelt gratitude… to our family member and MP Abdul Rehman sahab who came from Pakistan as the chief guest on this special occasion. His presence has made today’s event even more special.”
Addressing the gathering, Kanju conveyed his Diwali wishes, emphasizing the festival’s message of light and happiness for both nations. Coming from Lodhran in Pakistan, Kanju warmly congratulated Arjun and Aditya on their election success. Reflecting on his bond with the Chautalas, Kanju said, “We may be living across the border, but Abhay and O P Chautala have always been there for us in our thick and thin. Abhay is Haryana’s Sher (lion).”
Kanju’s visit marks a longstanding friendship with the Chautala family. Abhay Chautala recalled how he invited Kanju during a recent phone conversation, reminding him of Arjun’s wedding visit and noting how the invitation for Diwali was warmly accepted. “He immediately accepted my invitation,” Abhay shared, highlighting the personal rapport between them.
Om Prakash Chautala, in his address, acknowledged Kanju’s consistent support for improved Indo-Pak relations, emphasizing a desire for better ties between the nations. The gathering concluded with warm exchanges and heartfelt wishes, celebrating Diwali as a bridge across borders.
