Former Chief Minister and opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda held a press conference today, taking a strong stance against the BJP. He stated that the Haryana Skill Development Corporation has become a hub for the exploitation and corruption of youth. Employees working under the Skill Development program presented Hooda with a memorandum highlighting the shortcomings in this corporation. Hooda remarked that there’s no provision for reservation, merit, or transparency under its official rules. Instead of providing stable employment to the youth, the government is offering precarious jobs by becoming contractors themselves. He mentioned that if the Congress government comes to power in the state, nearly 200,000 vacant positions will be permanently filled, providing employment opportunities for the youth.
Hooda accused the current Haryana government of engaging in misleading publicity, spreading false news, and running a corrupt administration. He criticized the misuse of government machinery for false propaganda, citing the recent ‘Developed India Journey’ as a prime example. He alleged that the BJP-JJP coalition is exploiting school children and government employees for their political agendas. Employees from various departments, including teachers, have been diverted from their work to participate in political campaigns. Despite being in power, the state government hasn’t achieved any notable accomplishments. The government is attempting to mislead the public through prominent advertisements in newspapers, but the reality of its performance can be seen in official government statistics.
Addressing the press conference at his residence, Hooda, along with Congress State President Chaudhary Udaybhan and former minister Geeta Bhukkal, referred to the recent 2022 statistics released by the NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau). Hooda highlighted the insecurity of girls under the BJP-JJP rule. Within just one year, there have been 16,743 cases of crimes against women, averaging 46 cases per day. Additionally, there have been 1,787 rape cases, averaging five assaults on girls per day. In 2022 alone, 2,640 children went missing from the state, including 1,124 boys and 1,516 girls. After Jind, a case of sexual assault against girls has surfaced in the Kaithal district. The Congress Party has demanded a high-level investigation into all such cases and suggested the installation of complaint boxes in schools for anyone to report their grievances.
