A hallmark of older homes is the use of high-quality materials, which contribute to their lasting durability. The doors, often original to these houses, are especially sturdy. Well-preserved homes with such features are typically found in historic cities.

Recently, a resident of Banaras left onlookers amazed by revealing a 200-year-old door in his home. What truly caught people’s attention, however, was the door’s unique closing mechanism. In a viral video shared by Instagram user Smriti Anant (@wanderers.of.varanasi), she presents an intriguing discovery. While visiting a house in Varanasi with an unidentified man she refers to as ‘Sir,’ Anant showcases an ancient wooden door that captured the fascination of viewers.

The homeowner estimates that the door is between 200 and 250 years old, and its craftsmanship is remarkable, with the wood measuring six inches in thickness.

Closing the door requires significant effort, as it takes two hands to secure it. Once shut, it is locked with a three-step mechanism: first, a wooden latch is fastened at the top, followed by a thick wooden bar placed across the middle. Finally, a small latch at the bottom completes the intricate locking system.

The owner confidently claims that the door’s security is so robust that even the combined force of two elephants pushing from the outside would be powerless to break through.

The video showcasing the door has gone viral, amassing over 1 crore views and sparking a variety of reactions. One commenter joked that even the Prime Minister wouldn’t have such security measures in place, while another suggested that SBI should adopt similar precautions in all its branches. A third commenter humorously referred to the door as ‘Z+++ security.’
