India and Moldova have recently signed an agreement concerning visa waivers for diplomatic and official passport holders, signaling a positive step towards enhancing bilateral relations between the two nations.

The agreement, signed by Pavan Kapoor, Secretary (West) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Ana Taban, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Moldova, facilitates visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports from either country.

Upon coming into effect, the agreement will enable passport holders to travel between India and Moldova without the need for a visa, as stated in a press release from the MEA. This development is expected to further bolster the friendly and cordial relations that exist between India and Moldova.

Diplomatic ties between India and Moldova were established on March 20, 1992, with both nations maintaining warm, stable, and friendly relations, as affirmed by the MEA. The recent agreement adds momentum to these relations and signifies the commitment of both countries to strengthen their ties.

Earlier this year in January, India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended congratulations to Mihai Popsoi on his appointment as Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Jaishankar expressed eagerness to collaborate with Popsoi in furthering the robust relationship between India and Moldova.

In a social media post, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of working together to enhance India-Moldova ties, reflecting the mutual interest in deepening cooperation across various sectors.
