Actor Allu Arjun has expressed his condolences following the tragic death of a woman at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule.

The incident occurred on December 4 when fans thronged the theatre, prompting the police to resort to a mild lathi charge to control the crowd. Tragically, a woman lost her life, and her son sustained injuries in the chaos.

Taking to social media platform X, Allu Arjun shared a video addressing the incident. In the video, he assured the grieving family of his support and announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to aid them. He stated: “We extend our deepest condolences to the family. We understand that no words or actions can ever compensate for the loss you are bearing… I would like to extend financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the family as a goodwill gesture… we will also take care of the medical expenses…”

The actor captioned the video: “Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extend every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey.”

Earlier, the makers of the film, Mythri Movie Makers, also issued an official statement expressing their sorrow over the incident.

“We are extremely heartbroken by the tragic incident during last night’s screening. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and the young child undergoing medical treatment. We are committed to standing by them and extending all possible support during this difficult time. With deep sorrow,” they wrote on X.

On Thursday, Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav revealed that actor Allu Arjun and his security team have been named as accused in the case related to the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The police are working to identify those responsible for the chaos that led to the death of a woman and injuries to her son.

“According to the complaint, the theatre management, actor Allu Arjun and his security team have been made accused… We have to identify who are responsible in his security team and who were there yesterday who pushed people and created this situation… Our deployment was there, there is no lapse on police part. Investigation is going on,” DCP Yadav said.

Meanwhile, Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate the box office. The film has been playing to packed houses since its release on Thursday.

According to the makers, Pushpa 2 amassed a staggering ₹294 crore globally on its opening day, setting new records. The film surpassed the opening-day collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in the Hindi market and broke RRR’s ₹156 crore record, becoming the biggest domestic opener of all time.

Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Muttamsetty Media, the sequel features Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil reprising their roles as Pushpa Raj, Srivalli, and Bhanwar Singh Shekawat.

Allu Arjun, who plays the titular role, received a National Film Award for his performance in the first part of the franchise. Pushpa: The Rise, also directed by Sukumar, portrayed a gripping tale of power struggles against the backdrop of red sandalwood smuggling.
