Tesla CEO Elon Musk used his Twitter account on Tuesday to share an Indian meme that humorously criticized Apple for integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its features, highlighting potential privacy issues.
The meme, titled “How intelligence works,” features an image of a man and a woman sharing coconut water, with text suggesting concerns about Apple sharing data with OpenAI and the resulting privacy violations.

Expressing his concerns, Musk had previously threatened Tim Cook over the Apple-OpenAI deal, stating in a post, “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies. That is an unacceptable security violation.” He also criticized Apple’s decision, claiming, “It’s patently absurd that Apple isn’t smart enough to make their own AI, yet is somehow capable of ensuring that OpenAI will protect your security & privacy! Apple has no clue what’s actually going on once they hand your data over to OpenAI. They’re selling you down the river.”
In another post, Musk reiterated his stance, highlighting his concerns about Apple’s lack of control over data once it is handed over to OpenAI.
During WWDC 2024, Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, announced the integration of ChatGPT into Apple devices. This integration includes linking ChatGPT with Siri to provide more contextually relevant responses. Siri will be able to access information from various apps to enhance user interactions and provide more specific data regarding the user’s request.
