Election agencies confiscate 703 crore illicit assets

During the general assembly elections, in compliance with the Model Code of Conduct, the Election Department issued orders to various enforcement agencies in the state to seize illegal cash and materials. So far, illegal cash and materials worth 703 crores have been seized. This is more than ten times the seizures made during the entire MCC period in the previous state assembly elections in 2018 when assets worth 70.8 crores were confiscated.
On Friday, Chief Election Officer Praveen Gupta reported that enforcement agencies in 14 districts of the state have seized more than 20 crores in cash so far. Additionally, the police have seized approximately 443.80 crores worth of illegal cash, liquor, and other items. The Income Tax Department has seized 72.50 crores in cash and materials, while the State Excise Department and the State GST Department have seized 18.65 crores and 117.13 crores worth, respectively. Jaipur leads with seizures amounting to 110 crores and 47 lakhs, including 19 crores and 17 lakhs in illegal cash, 16 crores and 83 lakhs in gold and silver, valuable metals worth 71 crores and 11 lakhs, other items worth 1 crore and 77 lakhs, drugs worth 1 crore and 57 lakhs, and illegal liquor. The highest seizure of illegal liquor, amounting to 10 crores and 98 lakhs, was in Alwar district, while the highest seizure of drugs, totalling 12 crores and 67 lakhs, occurred in Bhilwara.
In terms of total seizures, Alwar is second with confiscation of 38 crores and 97 lakhs. Jodhpur ranks third with 34.33 crores, Nagaur fourth with 29.18 crores, Bhilwara fifth with 28.84 crores, Kota sixth with 27.75 crores, Udaipur seventh with 26.71 crores, Bundi eighth with 25.44 crores, Bikaner ninth with 25.19 crores, Chittorgarh tenth with 24.41 crores, and Ajmer district ranks eleventh with 24.04 crores.
