A magnitude-7.1 earthquake struck the Philippines on Thursday morning, as reported by the national earthquake centre.

The German Press Agency cited the centre, noting that the quake’s epicentre was 630 kilometres deep and situated off the coast of Mindanao, the second-largest island in the Philippines.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) pinpointed the epicentre at just under 106 kilometres off Mindanao’s coast.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake.
The Philippines is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area known for significant seismic activity.
