Earlier, the United Nations disclosed that Afghanistan requires over USD 400 million for recovery following an earthquake last October, which claimed approximately 2,000 lives.

The earthquake, registering at magnitude 6.3 on October 7, proved one of the nation’s most devastating in recent memory, causing extensive destruction in Herat province and leaving thousands injured and displaced. Even now, survivors face challenges in rebuilding their lives.

According to a new UN report, published in collaboration with the World Bank, the European Union, and the Asian Development Bank, an immediate fund of USD 402.9 million is deemed necessary to support crucial recovery and reconstruction efforts in the province.
