In a recent address, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar highlighted India’s evolving approach to challenges like terrorism and border disputes, emphasizing the nation’s stance as principled yet robust. He stated, “The image of India is friendly but fair… If you look at a challenge like terrorism, the world recognises that today’s India deals with terrorism very differently from how it used to.” Jaishankar drew comparisons between past security threats, such as the Mumbai attacks, and recent incidents like Uri and Balakot, noting India’s firm and fair response.

Addressing India’s technological advancements, Jaishankar praised the country’s rapid digital transformation, pointing out India’s dominance in cashless transactions compared to global counterparts. He highlighted the benefits of digitalization, stating, “Digital has cut down corruption because everything is digitally recorded… With transparency, honesty also comes.”

Looking ahead, Jaishankar envisioned India as a formidable economic force, aiming to surpass the 5 trillion-dollar mark and become the world’s third-largest economy. He declared, “By the time we reach Amrit Kal, we are confident of minimum being a 30 trillion economy,” outlining ambitious growth targets.

Jaishankar urged the audience to take the Viksit Bharat initiative seriously, emphasizing its pragmatic implications. He encouraged the youth to actively engage in shaping India’s development trajectory, stating, “That sense that how do we achieve, how do we prepare for this journey of 25 years? That is really what all of you should focus on,” inspiring the next generation to embrace the challenges and opportunities ahead.
