Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Secretary of the Rural Development Department (RDD) and Panchayati Raj, led a comprehensive review meeting in Rajouri district to evaluate the progress and future plans concerning various centrally sponsored schemes.
The meeting encompassed an assessment of schemes such as MGNREGA, SBM, IWMP, RGSA, PMAY, NRLM, and others under the rural infrastructure sector. Dr. Shahid emphasized the importance of formulating plans for the next financial year in convergence with other departments like agriculture, horticulture, and fisheries, among others.
Key performance indicators of centrally sponsored schemes were thoroughly reviewed, with instructions issued to make substantial improvements within a week’s time. Dr. Shahid stressed the critical need for enhanced convergence with different departments, particularly agriculture and allied sectors.
Urgency was placed on completing pending work from the financial year 2021-22 by March 31st, 2024. The completion of border bunkers was highlighted as a priority to ensure the safety and security of border residents.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the construction of new Panchayat Ghar buildings, completion of work on Block Development Council buildings, and progress under Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), emphasizing activities like solid waste management and community hygiene.
Efforts to sustain the ODF plus status and promote cleanliness in rural areas were encouraged. Dr. Shahid underscored the significance of concerted efforts and synergy among stakeholders to uplift rural communities effectively.
Furthermore, Dr. Shahid addressed a delegation concerning pending payments for border bunkers under SRE, assuring them of early resolution. Accompanying Dr. Shahid were key officials including the Director RDD Jammu, Director Panchayati Raj J&K, and Technical Officer PMAY-G.The review meeting, attended by various officials and stakeholders, exemplified the commitment to efficient and impactful rural development initiatives in Rajouri district.
