Punjab Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, Dr. Baljit Kaur, has announced the commencement of free coaching for NEET and AIEEE candidates belonging to SC/BC and Minorities at the Ambedkar Institute of Careers and Courses in Mohali, which is being run by the Department.
She mentioned that, in accordance with the directions of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Department is committed to helping needy students/candidates who aspire to pursue coaching through the Ambedkar Institute. The Institute currently provides coaching to IAS/PCS/Civil Services aspirants and runs a one-year course in stenography for graduates. Today, approximately 45 trainees who successfully secured jobs in various State Government departments were felicitated with a trophy and shawl. She expressed that candidates who regard the institute as their alma mater pay tribute to the Institute for shaping their future.
The minister also announced an increase in the existing stipend amount for IAS/PCS/Civil Services aspirants receiving coaching here, from 3000 to 10000, and for Stenography trainees, from 1500 to 5000. This adjustment was eagerly anticipated for many years, considering the rising rate of inflation.
She emphasized that the concept of providing coaching to weaker sections and needy candidates aspiring to succeed in competitive exams is based on the ideals of Baba Sahib Dr. B R Ambedkar. Furthermore, she highlighted that the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government is striving to transform the state into a progressive and healthy state, ‘Rangla Punjab.’
The Minister stated that the Institute has played a crucial role in shaping the careers of many individuals who received coaching here in the past. The state government intends to strengthen the institute by expanding infrastructure and recruiting manpower, she added.
Recalling her challenging life during her MBBS study at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, she emphasized that hard work pays off. She applauded the services of the Old School Association, which is based on candidates who secured jobs after entering the institute.
Principal Secretary for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, V K Meena, in his address, mentioned that the department, under the leadership of the Minister, would fulfill all the needs of the Institute in the coming days.
Director of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Jaspreet Singh, Principal Aashish Kathuria, Old School Association President Sohan Singh, and instructors and guest faculty members were present on the occasion.
