The DMK Member of Parliament, DNV Senthilkumar S, expressed regret over his remarks made in Lok Sabha and stated his withdrawal of those comments. He addressed the House, acknowledging that his statement might have unintentionally hurt sentiments and requested the expunging of his words, expressing his regret for the same.

This incident arose when Senthilkumar sparked controversy by using a certain derogatory term for the BJP while discussing the party’s election success in the Hindi heartland states. Following this, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expunged the remarks from the records.

During the subsequent session, BJP MPs demanded apologies from DMK MP TR Baalu for Kumar’s earlier comments. Union Minister Piyush Goyal demanded an apology from Baalu, stating that Baalu, being their leader, should take responsibility and apologize for the remarks made by Senthilkumar.

Senthilkumar had earlier issued an apology on social media, expressing that he used the term inappropriately without any ill intention during his speech in the Lower House.

However, despite the apology, the BJP continued its criticism against the Congress and the INDIA alliance, accusing them of making divisive statements to disrupt the atmosphere. Union Minister Anurag Thakur and others from the BJP launched a scathing attack, accusing the Congress and its allies of attempting to erase the country’s culture and identity, specifically targeting their remarks against Sanatan Dharma, Hindus, and Hindi-speaking people. Union Minister Giriraj Singh also condemned Rahul Gandhi and the Stalin father-son duo, emphasizing the importance of ‘Ganga,’ ‘Gau,’ and ‘Gaumata’ in the context of Sanatan identity in India.
