A new controversy has arisen between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi. On Tuesday, the DMK treasurer and Parliamentary party leader, T R Baalu, slammed the governor and stated he had betrayed the Constitution.
T R Baalu, in a statement that was titled ‘Restrain Yourself, Raj Bhavan’, said the governor had been consistently speaking against the government and against the sentiments of the people in Tamil Nadu. He added, “The governor is acting as a representative of the RSS and echoing the views of the BJP. He has been blabbering against the culture, history of Tamil language, and the Dravidian ideology. top betraying Tamils after enjoying the privileges using the tax money of Tamils. Otherwise, let him quit his post and become a politician or even the president of the BJP or the RSS.”
Minister for HR & CE PK Sekarbabu on Wednesday said that the governor was acting like the BJP state president and was a stumbling block for the development of Tamil Nadu.
Speaking at the Freedom Fighters Maruthu Brothers Memorial Day function on Monday, Governor Ravi had said that the TN government didn’t want to acknowledge freedom fighters and the national freedom movement. Governor Ravi had said, “The moment they talk about them, they are exposed because they were the people who worked against the freedom movement. They collaborated with the British to defeat the freedom movement. These are all matters on record. British archives will tell the truth about who were the agents of the British, who fought against the freedom movement.”
He added, “Here is a society, which is badly fragmented along caste lines. I have not come across any state in India where students go to school wearing caste bands. When society is fragmented in terms of castes and national heroes have been forgotten by authorities, the castes own them. That’s how our national leaders are reduced to caste leaders today.”
Meanwhile, Governor Ravi has sent back the file, relating to the TN government’s decision to appoint former DGP C Sylendra Babu as Chairman of Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission, for the second time.
