Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, led a comprehensive review meeting today at MA Stadium to oversee the preparations for the UT level Republic Day Celebration 2024.
The meeting included key officials such as DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua, Shakti Pathak; Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sachin Kumar Vaishya; SSP Jammu, SSP Security Jammu, SSP Traffic, along with representatives from various departments, including Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, Air Force, Jal Shakti, JPDCL, PWD, JMC, Health Services, Information, Education, Cultural Academy, Youth Services and Sports, Hospitality and Protocol.
The Div Com examined the arrangements for the Republic Day Parade, emphasizing the need for meticulous planning and coordination among departments. Various aspects, including repair works, whitewashing, parking facilities, sanitation, decoration, security measures, and public entry points, were discussed. The heads of each department were instructed to appoint nodal officers to ensure seamless coordination and timely execution of tasks.
A focus on cultural activities marked by the celebration of cultural heritage, patriotic ethos, and regional diversity was highlighted during the review. The Div Com encouraged departments to contribute to the cultural program with items that showcase the rich heritage and diversity of the region.
In addition to the physical arrangements, the officials were directed to facilitate public transportation to the venue, provide wide publicity for parking spaces, and establish convenient entry points for the public, ensuring proper frisking procedures.
To enhance coordination and address any concerns promptly, a Joint control room will be established to oversee the preparations and ensure a hassle-free celebration of Republic Day 2024. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all departments to work collectively to make the event a memorable and patriotic celebration.
