A committee constituted by District Collector Aashika Jain has identified discrepancies in the use of Methanol at a factory in Derabassi. Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Derabassi, Himanshu Gupta, issued a show cause notice to the concerned factory.
The Sub Division Level Committee, consisting of SDM Himanshu Gupta, Block Level Extension Officer (Industries) Shruti Sharma, Excise Inspector Gurvinder Singh, and Assistant Sub Inspector Satnam Singh, conducted a joint inspection of four industrial units utilizing Methanol as a raw material.

The inspected factories include M/s Power Chem Tech, M/s Alley Chem Labs Pvt Limited, M/s Surbhe Polymers, and M/s Synthimed Labs Pvt. Limited, all located in the Industrial Focal Point (IFP) area of Derabassi.

While Surbhe Polymers and Synthimed Labs maintained proper records of Methanol usage, Alley Chem Labs confirmed holding a license for Methanol storage but currently neither purchases nor uses Methanol. However, Power Chem Tech, which produces Formaldehyde using Methanol, failed to produce stock registers and bills for Methanol, indicating gross negligence.

SDM Himanshu Gupta stated that the management of Power Chem Tech has been issued a show cause notice for negligent record-keeping and failure to produce essential documents. The company has been instructed to submit the required documents to the committee by 10:00 am on April 18. Failure to comply will result in further legal action, as per SDM Derabassi.
