Amber Heard’s Twitter account has been shut down, according to reports.
Amber Heard has experienced intense hatred and trolling ever since her ex-husband Johnny Depp’s defamation case trial gathered momentum. After the case’s verdict, the actor hasn’t really been on social media. Now, a lot of people on social media think that Amber cancelled her Twitter account once Elon Musk became Twitter’s new CEO!
For those who are unaware, Elon Musk and Amber Heard were rumoured to be dating in 2017.
According to a report cited by Mashable, Amber Heard and her daughter Oonagh Paige relocated to a small village in Mallorca, Spain, after the lawsuit was settled.
She seemed to have been living quietly in a town of fewer than 2,000 residents. The actress has hired a house with a 2.8 million euro price tag.
The actor is still the target of online harassment. The rumour of her leaving Twitter has gone viral on the microblogging platform.
A Twitter user wrote, “Mr Musk taking over Twitter has one benefit…. the queen of delusion and toxicity #AmberHeard is leaving #Twitter”
Another wrote, “Apparently #AmberHeard can’t afford the check mark anymore. “Probably why she left.”
Speaking of the litigation, a movie is being made based on the widely reported slander trial. The movie, titled “Hot Take: The Depp/Heard Trial,” will make its debut only on the free Tubi streaming platform.
According to Variety, the movie stars Mark Hapka as Depp and Megan Davis as Heard. Mark Hapka has previously appeared in Parallels and Days of Our Lives.
The trial, which went viral online, took place in Virginia, USA, for roughly six weeks. Depp was given USD 10 million in compensation damages and USD 5 million in punitive damages after winning the well reported slander case. Amber Heard, on the other hand, received compensation in the amount of USD $2 million.
The 2016 divorcing couple fought in court over a 2018 article that Amber Heard authored in which she discussed dealing with domestic abuse (without revealing Johnny’s name).
Depp sued Heard for 50 million dollars in damages following the publication of the story. Trial proceedings started in April, and Depp was found successful on June 1. Amber Heard’s abuse charges against Depp were deemed untrue when she published the piece, as the jury determined that she was unable to back them up with any solid evidence.
But the jury also determined that Depp had slandered Heard once, so it gave her USD 2 million in compensatory damages.
