Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain embarked on a crucial visit to the forward areas in the Karnah sector on Saturday to assess the security situation and engage in discussions with Army officers regarding infiltration attempts and countermeasures.
Accompanied by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order (L&O), Vijay Kumar, DIG North Kashmir Range (NKR) Vivek Gupta, and SSP Kupwara Shobit Saxena, DGP Swain’s visit aimed to gain insights into ongoing efforts to thwart infiltration attempts amid heightened concerns during the parliamentary polls.
During the visit, DGP Swain engaged in discussions with Army officers, including GOC 28 Div Maj Gen Girish Kalia and Brig N K Dhas, to evaluate the security apparatus and strategies employed in the region.Utilizing the opportunity to interact with border police personnel from Police Post Teetwal and Police Post Taad, DGP Swain commended the recent endeavors of the Police in gathering anti-infiltration intelligence and combating narcotics smuggling.
In a gesture of solidarity and appreciation, DGP Swain shared a meal with the officers, constables, and SPOs, acknowledging their dedication and commitment to safeguarding the border.
The interaction session witnessed the participation of key officials, including SP Ops Kupwara G M Bhat, 2-IC 6 Mahar Lt Col Rajbir Singh, Major Atul, DySP Headquarters Kupwara Muhammad Amin Bhat, SHO Karnah Irshad Reshi, and SHO JIC Kupwara Reyaz, further fostering coordination and cooperation in maintaining border security. DGP Swain’s visit underscores the collective efforts and vigilance of security forces in ensuring the safety and integrity of the border regions, particularly during critical periods of heightened security concerns.
