The Director General of Police (DGP) for Jammu and Kashmir, R.R. Swain, led a high-level joint security meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir to assess preparedness in the Kashmir Zone for the upcoming Republic Day. The meeting witnessed the participation of officers from various security forces, including the Police, Army, CRPF, BSF, SSB, CISF, and other sister agencies.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were conducted on the security measures for vulnerable areas, individuals, and locations. The focal points included intelligence gathering, area domination, Naka checking, and the security of sensitive places and venues.
Addressing the gathering, DGP directed officers to ensure optimal security arrangements at all venues across Kashmir by utilizing all available resources effectively. He stressed the need for the highest level of security and further strengthening of security grids, highlighting the serious attempts by handlers from across the border to infiltrate terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir.
The DGP emphasized strict monitoring and subsequent action against the terror support system, citing continuous attempts by Pakistan and its agencies to revive terrorism in parts of J&K. Special monitoring was directed to identify any element providing support to terrorists.
Highlighting the desperation of handlers from across the border to create disruption, the DGP urged field formations to thoroughly review inputs shared by different agencies and take necessary measures to foil subversive attempts. He stressed the need to revisit security measures at vulnerable places and for individuals.
In addition to strengthening the human intelligence system, the DGP called for the effective use of modern tools to track down terrorists. He instructed the identification of technologies used by terrorists and the preparation of counter-strategies accordingly.
The DGP emphasized the need to identify and dismantle new forms of terror modules with simultaneous actions within the legal framework.
Swain directed officers to conduct a detailed review of all threat scenarios in their respective areas, emphasizing the assignment of responsibility in the hierarchy of officials. Clear guidelines were to be communicated by senior officers to on-field personnel to ensure the peaceful conduct of Republic Day celebrations.
Participating officers provided feedback on the security scenario in their jurisdictions and outlined security measures adopted and implemented for Republic Day. The comprehensive security approach aims to ensure a safe and secure environment during the national celebrations.
