A committee tasked with overseeing the sale and utilization of Methanol and Industrial Spirit, chaired by DC Aashika Jain, has uncovered discrepancies in the usage of Methanol within a factory located in Dera Bassi. SDM Derabassi, Himanshu Gupta, disclosed this information, elaborating on the findings of the Sub Division Level Committee, which included Shruti Sharma, Block Level Extension Officer (Industries), Gurvinder Singh, Excise Inspector, and Satnam Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector, InCharge of Mubarkpur Police Chowki.
Among these units, Surbhe Polymers and Synthimed Labs demonstrated proper record-keeping of Methanol usage as a raw material and active ingredient, respectively, along with matching storage quantities as per the records. Alley Chem Labs stated that although possessing a license for Methanol storage, they are presently neither purchasing nor utilizing Methanol in any form.
Power Chem Tech, which manufactures Formaldehyde utilizing Methanol as a raw material, failed to provide the required stock register and invoices for Methanol. SDM Gupta remarked that this lapse amounts to gross negligence. The management has been issued a show-cause notice concerning their negligent record-keeping and failure to furnish necessary documents.
The company has been instructed to present the requisite documents before the committee by 10:00 am on April 18. Failure to comply will prompt further legal action, as indicated by SDM Derabassi.
