Dengue outbreak spreads, Haryana on alert

Charkhi Dadri District: The Epicentre
The dengue outbreak has taken a severe toll on Charkhi Dadri district, emerging as the worst-hit area in Haryana. Alarmingly, the district has reported a staggering 238 cases of dengue, raising concerns among both health authorities and the public. Charkhi Dadri’s Civil Hospital is witnessing an overwhelming surge in dengue patients, prompting swift action from health officials.
Dr. Gaurav Bharadwaj, the nodal officer of the health department, has deployed 522 teams to various areas. These teams are actively engaged in community outreach to raise awareness about the perils of contaminated water and the critical need to prevent stagnant water, which serves as fertile breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitoes.
To combat the outbreak, extensive awareness campaigns have been launched in villages, homes are being inspected for larvae breeding sites, and notices have been issued to 2,473 households where larvae were detected. Currently, there are 50 active dengue cases in Charkhi Dadri district, with numbers steadily rising. Neighbouring Kaithal district has also reported 61 cases, and larvae traces have been uncovered in a staggering 1,556 locations throughout the district. As a response, 25 beds have been reserved at the Women’s Medical College Hospital in Khanpur, along with eight additional beds, including facilities at CHC, PHC, and PHSC, at Nagar Hospital. A high alert has been issued throughout the district to intensify preventive measures.

Sonipat District: A Growing Concern
In Sonipat district, the dengue outbreak is rapidly escalating, causing significant worry. Health authorities have deployed teams to visit suspected areas, ramping up public awareness efforts and conducting thorough inspections. Much like Charkhi Dadri, Sonipat has reserved 25 beds at the Women’s Medical College Hospital in Khanpur and an additional eight beds at Nagar Hospital, covering CHC, PHC, and PHSC facilities. A high alert has been sounded regarding the dengue outbreak.

Kaithal District: Rising Numbers
Kaithal district is grappling with a surge in dengue cases, with the tally reaching 61. Disturbingly, dengue larvae traces have been discovered in 1,556 locations across the district, heightening concerns.

Gurugram District: Steady Increase
In Gurugram, four new dengue cases have surfaced, taking the total count to 120. The recent rains pose an increased risk of mosquito proliferation. The health department remains steadfast in its efforts to raise public awareness.
The dengue outbreak in Haryana is a growing public health challenge, necessitating vigilant measures and community participation to mitigate its impact.
