The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) achieved a national ranking of 7 in the Swachh Survekshan report released by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Thursday.
The Swachhta Awards were presented by the Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and the Hon’ble Minister of MOUHA, Hardeep Singh Puri, at the ceremony attended by various urban development ministers, mayors, mission directors, municipal commissioners, and city officials from states and union territories across the country.
In the city report card released under the Swachh Survekshan, the council received a score of 99 percent for door-to-door waste collection, 87 percent for source segregation, 100 percent for waste generation versus processing, and remediation of dumpsites, as well as cleanliness of water bodies, public toilets, and 93 percent for the cleanliness of residential and market areas.
NDMC Chairperson Amit Yadav credited the Swachhta awards and ranking to the hard work of all NDMC teams. Yadav mentioned that the council has moved up two ranks since last year, from number 9 to number 7. He emphasized the need to continue with dedication and focus to improve and provide the best all-round services to New Delhi. Looking ahead, he expressed the goal of striving to be among the top three cities next year. In a tweet on X, formerly known as Twitter, NDMC celebrated the achievement, stating, “Proud moment!
