Delhi BJP slams AAP over city’s 90th rank in Swachh Bharat Survey

The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, for inadequate sanitation services in Delhi, citing the national capital›s 90th rank in the Swachh Bharat Survey. Delhi BJP Chief expressed disappointment, stating, «Under Arvind Kejriwal›s regime, Delhi›s sanitation services have deteriorated to the worst level.»

During the MCD election, CM Arvind Kejriwal had pledged additional resources for Delhi›s sanitation under AAP›s rule. However, after one year, Delhiites feel deceived.
Virendra Sachdeva, Delhi BJP President, regretted that the AAP had promised to clean three landfill sites within a year but failed to deliver, with the landfill sites remaining unchanged since January 2023.

The Swachh Bharat Survey results, released today, deeply disappointed Delhiites as the national capital ranked 90th among participating cities. In the cleaning of residential and market areas, MCD scored poorly at 59%, indicating that only 59% of garbage is cleared from the streets.

The survey also revealed that waste and garbage collection is conducted in only 71% of Delhi, leaving 29% of residents compelled to dispose of waste on open roads.
Delhi BJP President Sachdeva highlighted the figures of door-to-door waste collection, explaining the prevalence of garbage heaps on city roads and complaints from RWAs about zero sanitation in back lanes.

He further criticized the unhygienic state of most MCD-maintained public toilets in the city and announced an upcoming Filthy Public Toilet Campaign on social media with public participation. Sachdeva attributed the deteriorated sanitation standards in Delhi to the corruption of AAP councillors, pledging to expose it soon.
