Sources within the Delhi Police have disclosed that the email used to threaten over 80 schools in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday contained the term ‘Swaraiim,’ an Arabic word associated with the Islamic State since 2014.

The sources indicated that the threat email was sent from the email address ‘sawariim@mail.ru.’

The investigation has uncovered that ‘Sawariim,’ which translates to ‘clashing of the swords,’ is an Arabic term that has been utilized by the Islamic State since 2014 for the dissemination of Islamist propaganda.

The Delhi Police is currently investigating whether any organization is behind these threatening emails.

Among the schools affected were Amity School Saket, DPS International Saket, Red Rose-New Green Field, and Apeejay School in the South district. Schools in other districts, including Salwan Junior School, Guru Harkishan Public School, Mira Model School, New Era Public School, and S L Suri DAV School in the West district, also reported receiving the threatening emails.

Despite thorough checks conducted by Bomb Disposal Teams (BDTs) and local police, no suspicious items have been found so far.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a statement stating that the email appeared to be a hoax, and there was no need to panic. The MHA mentioned that Delhi Police and security agencies are taking necessary steps as per protocol.

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has sought a detailed probe from the Delhi Police Commissioner. He visited a school in north Delhi following reports of the bomb threat.

As a precautionary measure, all schools in Delhi-NCR that received the threat emails have been closed, and students have been sent home.
