In a fraudulent job scam, a woman and her two children suffered a financial loss of approximately Rs. 50 lakhs, falling victim to deceitful promises of employment at Indigo Airlines through the Indeed job portal.

Delhi Police apprehended one of the culprits, Ishu Verma (29), also known as Rahul Saxena, in Shahdara, seizing a laptop, a mobile phone, and forged documents from him. Verma, an MBA graduate, purportedly holds the position of a BMI (body mass index) officer at Indigo Airlines.

The victim, Shammi Mehra of Jagat Puri, reported that individuals posing as Indigo Airlines employees had contacted her and her children through the Indeed app.

The scammers duped Mehra’s daughter, Tisha, with a fake receptionist job at Indigo Airlines in June 2023, conducting online interviews and providing a counterfeit joining letter dated June 28, 2023. Additionally, another accused, Rahul Saxena, visited her residence to conduct a fraudulent BMI test as part of the elaborate deception.

Similarly, the accused offered a job to the complainant’s son, Nitin, at Indigo Airlines, furnishing him with a fake joining letter dated July 2, 2023. The complainant made payments totaling around Rs. 50 lakhs in various installments as security deposits, training fees, and other charges.

Upon closer scrutiny, the complainant discovered that the job letters were forged, prompting her to report the incident to the police. A case was registered at Jagat Puri police station.

During the investigation, the police arrested Ishu Verma, who admitted to his involvement in the crime. He disclosed the names of his associates, Ayan Malik and Sanjay Bangar, who are currently evading law enforcement.
