The Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi in the case has moved the Delhi High Court wherein it is challenged the denial of political clearance by the Union Government for her visit to Brisbane in order to attend a conference.

The Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula was hearing the present matter. The counsel appearing for Oberoi mentioned the present matter.

The counsel appearing for the Oberoi while seeking an urgent listing of the matter submitted before the court that the Oberoi has to travel to Brisbane in Australia on October 09 to attend the conference.

However, the counsel seek permission to attend the 2023 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayor’s Forum in Brisbane. As the said event is scheduled to take place between October 11 and October 13, 2023.

Last Month, similar plea has been moved by the Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai wherein it challenged the denial of political clearance to him for travelling to New York to attend the Columbia India Energy Dialogue.

The court in the case observed and has stated that the said matter was closed after the Union Government informed the court that the political clearance was granted. Accordingly, the court listed the matter for further consideration on October 04, 2023.
