Delhi High Court, on Friday, stayed the bail order of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal granted by a trial court a day ago. The HC reserved its decision after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a petition seeking a stay on the bail order granted by Rouse Avenue Court. Notably, the HC has not specified a date to pronounce its verdict, although, it has indicated that the decision would be passed in the next two or three days.

On March 21, Kejriwal became the first sitting CM to be arrested after the ED detained him for his involvement in a case related to the now-scrapped Delhi Liquor Policy. During Friday’s hearing, Kejriwal’s counsel was asked to file written submissions regarding the ED’s plea opposing his release in the case.

Earlier in the day, Sunita Kejriwal strongly criticized the move to challenge the bail granted to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo. “It has become like this… as if Arvind Kejriwal is the most wanted terrorist… Dictatorship has increased in the country,” she said. She added, “The decision is yet to come in the High Court… We hope that the High Court will do justice.”
