Delhi High Court To Delhi Govt: Establish Three Proposed Justice Juvenile Justice Boards Within Two Years

The Delhi High Court in the case the Court on its own motion vs. Govt. of NCT of Delhi And Ors observed and has directed the Delhi Government for establishing the three Juvenile Justice Boards proposed by it in the national capital within a period of two years.
The Division bench comprising of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad in the case observed that Delhi is ready to lay foundation stone which is being set up an integrated complex for effective implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act comprising of various Juvenile Justice Institutions and statutory bodies for care and protection of children within the single premises.
The court in the case observed and has stated that it has also revealed in the status report that the State is setting up three Juvenile Justice Boards at Dwarka, Sewa Kutir at Alipur to cater to the cases of these areas and in order to establish the Juvenile Justice Boards in every District of Delhi. Therefore, it has also been directed by the State Government to establish the Centres which have been proposed within the period of two years.
The said proceedings are closed by the bench in the suo moto case which was being initiated in the year 2013 in the aftermath of an incident of vandalism in a juvenile detention centre at Majnu Ka Tila.
Further, the status report has been filed by the Delhi Government on May 12, 2023. The said court also appraised that in the process of setting up three Juvenile Justice Boards at Dwarka, Sewa Kutir and Alipur and for establishing such boards in every district of the city.
It has also been stated by the said court that no further orders are required to be passed in the present petition.
Accordingly, the court disposed of the application pending.
