The Delhi High Court in the case Tahir Hussain v. State and other connected matters observed and has granted bail to the former Aam Aadmi Party councillor Tahir Hussain in five different cases which are being registered against him in connection with the 2020 North-East Delhi riots.
The court stated that Hussain will still remain in judicial custody in other FIRs registered against him, which includes the UAPA case wherein it alleged the larger conspiracy to commit the riots.
The bench of Justice Anish Dayal in the case observed and has allowed the bail plea moved by Hussain in the year 2020 and 2021.
In the present case, the total of 11 FIRs were being registered against Tahir Hussain in connection with the 2020 riots, which includes UAPA case accusing him and others of being behind the larger conspiracy for committing the riots.
The court in the case observed that the ECIR was also being registered by the Enforcement Directorate against Tahir Hussain and the charges are framed against him in the money laundering case by the trial court in November last year. Therefore, the High Court and the Supreme Court dismissed the Tahir Hussain’s challenge to the order framing charges.
Further, the Hussain moved the trial court wherein he seek regular bail in the UAPA case.
