Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, currently in custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over the Delhi liquor scam case, has been granted permission by the Delhi High Court to visit his ailing wife once a week.

Sisodia was taken into custody by the CBI on February 26, 2022, in connection with the drafting and execution of the now-defunct Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22.

Recently, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi rejected both of Sisodia’s bail pleas in the Delhi liquor scam case. Special CBI Judge Kaveri Bawega dismissed the bail applications against cases filed by both the CBI and the ED.

Both investigative agencies opposed Sisodia’s bail pleas, labeling him as the mastermind in the liquor scam and expressing concerns that he might tamper with evidence if released on bail.

Manish Sisodia was arrested twice, first by the CBI on February 26, 2023, and then by the ED on March 9, 2023. The ED has charged him with involvement in irregularities in the excise policy, leading to losses for the state exchequer.

Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 21 in connection with the money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped excise policy. He is currently held in Tihar jail.
