Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has submitted a bail plea in the trial court related to a money laundering case associated with the former liquor policy. The Rouse Avenue Court is set to review Kejriwal’s plea at 2 pm today.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court declined Kejriwal’s request for a seven-day extension of his interim bail in the liquor policy case. The court registry rejected the application, stating that Kejriwal had the option to seek regular bail from the trial court.

During Tuesday’s hearing, a vacation bench led by Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan considered the arguments presented by senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi.

Kejriwal, in his plea for bail extension, cited health concerns, mentioning, “Unexplained weight loss is a symptom of life-threatening diseases. My health condition is partly attributable to the callous behaviour of the jail authorities. Another week of bail will allow me to take stock of health complications.”

Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on May 10 after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail in the liquor policy case. He has been directed to surrender by June 2, two days before the Lok Sabha poll vote counting.

The AAP leader was arrested on March 21 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) following questioning at his residence in Delhi’s Civil Lines area.
