After skipping the sixth summons, the Delhi CM said that he is cooperating with the probe agency
Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal once again skipped the ED summons on Monday.
Kejriwal has missed the sixth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding the money laundering case connected to the excise policy. The probe agency has called on the Delhi CM to appear before them.
After skipping the sixth summons, the Delhi CM said that he is cooperating with the probe agency. However, the central agency should wait for the court’s judgement before issuing any fresh summons.
Kejriwal said to the media: “We are giving them replies as per the law. Now, they have filed a case. ED should wait for the court’s judgement before issuing any fresh summons.” However, a source from ED has said that the agency will issue a fresh summons to the Delhi Chief Minister.
Earlier, the probe agency filed a complaint against Kejriwal for intentionally disobeying the summons issued to him. A local court has prima facie held the AAP convenor guilty of “disobeying” the earlier notices issued to him in the excise policy case, warranting the seventh summons.
However, last week, Delhi Rouse Avenue Court granted exemption to him from appearing for the day in connection with the complaint filed by the ED for disobeying its summons in connection with the liquor policy case. The court posted the matter for March 16, and Kejriwal’s counsel assured the court of his physical appearance that day.
On the other hand, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva stated that by continuously evading summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), despite being sent repeatedly, CM Arvind Kejriwal is disrespecting the law. He added that, as per Section 174 of the IPC, the honourable minister has also acknowledged that the summons sent by the investigative agency is valid and Arvind Kejriwal should cooperate with the investigation.
However, despite the court’s decision, Kejriwal’s summons as invalid is a disrespect to the court.
Sachdeva further said that Arvind Kejriwal is unable to accept that he has been involved in a major scandal regarding the liquor policy.
