A Delhi police constable was allegedly killed in a road rage incident after being struck by a car while riding his bike to the police station on Saturday night in the Nangloi area, officials said.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old Sandeep, is survived by his mother, wife, and 5-year-old son.

According to the police, the incident occurred when Sandeep, who was on duty, noticed a car being recklessly driven as he made his way from the Nangloi Police Station to Railway Road. He instructed the driver to stop driving harshly. In response, the car suddenly hit Constable Sandeep from behind, dragging him for about 10 meters before crashing into another vehicle, according to the Delhi police.

At the time of the accident, Sandeep was reportedly in civilian clothing due to heightened burglary activity in the area.

He was rushed to Sonia Hospital and later transferred to Balaji Hospital in Paschim Vihar, where he was declared dead.

CCTV footage revealed that Sandeep had turned into a narrow lane in the Nangloi area and signaled the car to slow down. However, the car accelerated, striking his bike and dragging him for approximately 10 meters before colliding with a parked vehicle. The impact caused fatal head injuries, according to police reports.

The driver of the car fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Authorities have recovered the car and registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the accused. The investigation is ongoing.
