Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning on December 21 in connection with a money laundering case linked to the excise policy, began a 10-day Vipassana meditation course on Wednesday, as confirmed by officials.
The ED had issued new summons on Monday, and despite the originally scheduled departure for the meditation course on Tuesday, Kejriwal delayed due to commitments related to the I.N.D.I.A bloc meeting, according to officials. He eventually left at approximately 1:30 pm on Wednesday for the pre-scheduled meditation course.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) expressed concerns about the timing of the summons on Tuesday, stating that the party’s legal team is reviewing the notice, and they will take “legally correct” measures. AAP emphasized that Kejriwal’s Vipassana session had been pre-planned and widely publicized, with AAP MP Raghav Chadha stating, “Everyone knows the chief minister is leaving for Vipassana on December 19. He regularly goes for this meditation course. It’s a pre-scheduled and pre-announced plan.” Earlier, Kejriwal had been summoned by the ED on November 2, but he chose to skip the questioning, alleging that the notice was illegal and politically motivated.
