It is said that if a skipper gives an excellent batting performance, then it makes a positive impact on other batsmen of the team as well. Shreyas Iyer’s super knock against KKR made the job of Delhi Capitals easier. Both Prithvi Shaw and Rishabh Pant also performed well. In fact, Shreyas has displayed tremendous potential for Team India at quite a young age. He is a player who fulfils all the requirements of his team.

Shreyas made 88 runs off 38 balls against such a sharp bowling attack which included Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell apart from Pat Cummins who is considered No. 1 bowler of the Tests.

He smashed shots towards on side wherever he got space. Particularly he hit sixers and fours in the direction of midwicket, cow corner and square leg. His boundaries on extra covers were also splendid.  With the help of this wonderful innings of Iyer, Delhi Capitals won the match, hearts and got a chance to be at number one among eight teams. Shreyas’ batting is quite mature at such a young age. He changes his batting strategy to suit the need of the hour. However, he has got a chance in Team India only in white ball cricket. But he has proved to be a dependable batsman for the team.  Before the World Cup, Team India was missing the right batsman for number four position but after this IPL he has shown that Team India’s quest for that position can stop now.

During the Zew Zealand tour, he hit his first One Day century there and became a star. Before this, the same consistency was seen in his batting in T20. He was the highest scorer after Virat Kohli in One Day series against West Indies. Who can forget the One Dayer against West Indies in Visakhapatnam, where he had made 31 runs hitting four sixers and one four in just one over of Roston Chase. This was the highest score of any Indian in just one over in one day international.

Shreyas has been the highest scorer for his team in Vijay Hazare Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. Apart from this, Shreyas hit the highest score in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well. He is gradually developing into a future skipper with the experience.
