The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a massive protest near Bengal Bhavan, Chanakyapuri, on Friday, regarding the Sandeshkhali incident, demanding the resignation of the Mamata Banerjee government. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva expressed, “Mamata Banerjee is still not condemning Sheikh Shahjahan, and her silence on the Sandeshkhali incidents, despite being a woman, is both shameful and painful.”
Thousands of BJP workers, led by Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva, participated in the protests against the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress. During the protest, BJP workers breached police barricades, leading to the detention of over 150 BJP workers, including Pradesh BJP President Virendra Sachdeva. They were taken to the Tughlak Road Police Station.
Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva reiterated Mamata Banerjee’s failure to condemn Sheikh Shahjahan and criticized her silence on the Sandeshkhali incidents. He stated, “Our protest is against the atrocities and attacks on women by TMC’s Sheikh Shahjahan.
Simultaneously, we demand action against Arvind Kejriwal’s party councillor, Ankush Narang, charged with indecency and obscenity towards a minor girl under the POCSO Act.” Sachseva also drew a parallel between Mamata Banerjee protecting Sheikh Shahjahan and Arvind Kejriwal shielding Ankush Narang.
Sachdeva emphasized that the demonstration serves as more than a protest; it conveys a message of accountability for the entire country, holding the TMC government responsible for the shameful incident. Despite the Chief Minister of the state being a woman, such incidents occur under her watch.
Accusing the I.N.D.I. alliance of remaining silent on both cases, Sachdeva highlighted the absence of any I.N.D.I. alliance leader addressing the matter.
