A 12-year-old student died under suspicious circumstances at a private school in southwest Delhi on Tuesday morning, according to police. The deceased, identified as Prince, was a sixth-grade student residing in Kudumpur Pahari, Vasant Vihar.

Authorities suspect that Prince’s death may have resulted from a seizure; however, his family has alleged foul play, claiming that he was beaten by a classmate. The police received information from Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj at 10:15 AM, stating that Prince had been brought in dead.

Police noted that there were no visible injuries on the boy’s body

Upon inspection, police noted that there were no visible injuries on the boy’s body, but a foam-like substance was observed oozing from his mouth. Doctors suggested that the boy may have suffered from a convulsion-related condition, but inquest proceedings are currently underway. Investigations are being conducted with students and teachers from the school, and necessary legal actions will follow based on the findings.

Prince’s father, Sagar, a sewer line worker in Vasant Vihar Society, expressed his disbelief at the circumstances surrounding his son’s death, stating that Prince had no prior medical history and was in good health when he dropped him off at school. “My son was completely healthy and had no history of fits. He would even play football and was a good player, participating in inter-school tournaments and winning several medals,” Sagar told PTI, adding that he believes “something is fishy in the school’s and police’s theory.”

Sagar mentioned that other students informed him that Prince had a fight with a classmate before collapsing, and that school teachers later took him to the hospital. Initially, he was taken to Holy Angels Hospital before being referred to Fortis, where he was pronounced dead.

“I got a call at 9:45 AM from the school that my son got hurt, and when I reached the hospital, he was already dead,” Sagar recounted. Prince was the younger of Sagar’s two sons; his elder brother, Priyanshu, is in eighth grade at another private school.

Prince’s uncle, Vineet, raised concerns about the absence of class teachers and other staff during the incident. The school has not yet issued a comment regarding the situation.
