As the possibility of simultaneous polls looms, political factions in Haryana have begun brainstorming campaign strategies. Amid this, the discussion pertaining to the political future of the stalwarts from all parties, especially of those who could not survive polls in 2019 continues to make the rounds. Several senior leaders faced disappointing defeats, which resulted in their exile from state politics for a long time. However, it is believed that some of these leaders will be given tickets by their respective parties.
With the forthcoming polls possibly turning into a multi-cornered battle, BJP and Congress leaders have in anticipation made it clear that winning candidates will be given preference while finalising the tickets.
In 2019 polls, several Congress leaders such Selja Kumari, Randeep Surjewala, Jai Prakash, Anand Singh Dangi failed to fulfill the expectations of the party, facing a debacle in the polls. Selja tasted defeat in the race for the Ambala seat, having lost the by a huge margin.
Given that Ratan Lal Kataria, the MP from Ambala, has passed away recently, it would be interesting to see whether Selja will fight the battle for the same seat. As of now, it has not been decided whether the by-election will be held on this seat or not, but it is in constant discussion whether Selja will decide to contest
from here.
