The death toll from the bus accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Maihar district increased to nine on Sunday. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night when a bus traveling from Prayagraj to Nagpur collided with a stationary dumper parked on the roadside in Maihar.
In a post on X, Chief Minister Mohan Kumar Yadav expressed his sorrow over the accident. He mentioned that one of the injured individuals is in a critical condition and wished for a speedy recovery for all those affected. “In this horrific road accident, 9 passengers have been confirmed dead, while one is in a very critical condition. Most of the passengers are from Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. I pray to Almighty God that all the injured get quick recovery,” CM Yadav stated.
The accident resulted in 17 people being injured, and they are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals across the state. Maihar SP Sudhir Agarwal confirmed, “In this accident, 17-20 injured people have been admitted to different hospitals. The bus was going from Prayagraj to Nagpur. The accident occurred when the bus collided with a dumper parked on the roadside.”
Many of the passengers involved in the accident hailed from Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra, highlighting the widespread impact of the tragedy.
