Wanted underworld don and Mumbai’s serial blast mastermind Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar was questioned by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai on Wednesday in a case related to inter-state drug supply. NCB busted one inter-state drug supplier racket and did some seizures, Kaskar’s arrest is linked to it. NCB had seized some consignments of cannabis that was brought to Mumbai via Jammu & Kashmir by some Punjab-based gangs on motorcycles.
NCB caught them as drugs were being transported from Kashmir to Mumbai with which NCB also got some clues linking it to the underworld. Regarding this, Kaskar has been arrested based on a production warrant. This was confirmed to The Sunday Guardian by NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede who said, “He has been taken under a production remand and will be brought to NCB Mumbai office on Thursday.” He will be further grilled on international links emerged in the wake of series of investigations over the past year during which the federal agency busted several narcotics network. Subsequently, the Mumbai Police had raided several locations in the city and the links of the drug syndicate led to Kaskar. In January this year, a team of NCB had arrested Arif Bhujwala, who is believed to have close relations with Ibrahim, in Mumbai drug-related case. Bhujwala was the key mastermind of the Rs 300 cr annual drugs syndicate which he ran with the help of underworld mentors in Dubai. Arif has over Rs 1,000 cr properties, luxury cars, four flats and two shops in his name. NCB had earlier arrested drug peddler Haris Khan over his alleged links with gangster Parvez Khan alias Chinku Pathan, an associate of Ibrahim. Talking about Kaskar, he is the younger brother of Ibrahim. He was born and grew up in Dongri’s Temkar Mohalla area. Kaskar is one of 11 siblings — six brothers and five sisters. Kaskar’s father worked in the Mumbai Police as a head constable and his mother was a housewife. He was deported from the UAE in 2003 and arrested by the Thane Police team led by Encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma in September 2017 in connection with an investigation into an extortion case. He is suspected to have been operating the real estate business of Ibrahim in Mumbai.
