In Kolkata, West Bengal, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Somenath Dutta has provided an update on cyclone ‘Remal’, indicating its trajectory and potential impact on the region. According to Dutta, over the past six hours, cyclone ‘Remal’ has been moving northward in the North Bay at a speed of 13 km/hr. As of now, it is positioned southwest of Khepupara, Bangladesh, with windspeeds ranging between 95 to 105 km/hr.
The IMD forecasts that the cyclone will continue its northward movement, with a projected trajectory to cross the region between Sagar Island and Khepupara around midnight. Dutta further warned that the maximum windspeed during this period is expected to reach 110 to 120 km/hr, with gusts up to 135 km/hr.
