As a preventative safety measure before cyclone Biparjoy reached the Gujarat coast, some 4,500 people were relocated from their homes to shelter homes, according to Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Parth Talsania.
While speaking to the sources, Talsania informed, “We have shifted 4,500 people from the coastal areas to various shelter houses. Preparations to meet food and medical needs are also made at the shelter homes. We are closely monitoring the situation.”
Cyclone Biparjoy has moved a little to the west, he continued, making it less likely to strike Dwarka’s coastline. A wind speed of between 100 and 80 km/h is forecasted, nevertheless.
He revealed that Dwarka and Okha both have one NDRF squad. Additionally ready are an SDRF team and an army unit for clearing roads.
SDM stated that Minister of State for Housing Harsh Sanghvi and Minister of Fisheries Purshottam Rupala are both in Dwarka and are monitoring the situation.
The Dwarka district government is working with the Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force, and Army. Even though the cyclone has moved slightly to the west and is less likely to make landfall in Dwarka, he continued, the scenario is abnormal. Winds will blow at a speed of 100 kph, which can be fatal if not controlled.
“I request all residents stay indoors and fill basic groceries like milk and bread,” he added.
The cyclone’s westward movement has not yet been confirmed by the Indian Meteorological Department. The Saurashtra and Kutch coasts of Gujarat were warned of Cyclone “Biparjoy” on Wednesday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
By the evening of June 15, it is highly likely to proceed almost northeastward, traverse Saurashtra and Kutch, as well as the neighbouring Pakistani beaches, between Mandvi (Gujarat) and Karachi (Pakistan), close to Jakhau Port (Gujarat).
