The second wave of the fatal Covid-19 pandemic has become dull as fewer cases are being reported these days but experts opine that the third wave is likely to come. Vaccination seems a prime weapon to defeat Covid-19 and the vaccination drive continues to witness a spike at a large scale in Haryana as 2.22 crore people above 18 years have been vaccinated. The first dose has been administered to nearly 70% of people while the rest have been given both doses.
People falling in the 18-44 years age group emerged on the top followed by the 45-60 years and 60 years or more with more than 51 lakh and nearly 39 lakh vaccinated people respectively. 10 lakh health care workers and frontline workers have been vaccinated. Rajiv Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, said that vaccination is the need of the hour and everyone should come forward to ensure no more cases get increased in Haryana. Besides, we have proper arrangements to ensure the availability of the medicine and own sufficient stock of the same. As per the data made available by the health department, the maximum arrangements are being made to administer the medicine among the youth as the people from 18-44 years fell easy prey at the hands of Covid-19. The statistics also revealed that losing the lives of so many young people had forced the state government and the health department to mull over a strategy so that the fatal disease can be tackled. Dr Veena Singh said that in this battle, mask, sanitiser and Covid appropriate behaviour are the only weapons. She said that they are committed to making every possible arrangement.
